Last December the minister for agriculture, Food and marine, Simon Coveney TD acquired additional funding for the new role in aquaculture for which BIm had been commissioned to undertake under a new brief to develop as an applicant ten mega fish farm sites off the west coast of Ireland.
Following a statutory four week consultation which ended on October 2nd,five out of thirteen state bodies made a submission to the minister for agriculture, Food and marine. Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) failed to object or lodge an observation in time which meant that the public were unable to benefit from the State body charged with the protection of our wild fish.
